AccKnowledge is a fully functional, on-demand, online, “true” web based accounting software application for small to medium sized enterprises enabling online accounting via intranet (the local area network), and the public Internet whereby the user has instant access to his financial data from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

AccKnowledge enables an end user to process accounting data for the purpose of generating accounting records and financial information thereby allowing him or her to successfully manage a business – but in a far different way! The data that is ultimately stored on a computer hardware device, which is normally stored locally on the end user’s own computer, can now be stored remotely on the hard disk drives of a third party storage provider – like an Internet company. This data is then capable of being accessed at a later time by the end user, anytime, anywhere, as long as he has an Internet connection.

AccKnowledge Systems has been written on a robust database known as Caché. Caché is a post-relational database, developed by Intersystems Corporation, a US company, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts (www.intersystems.com), a company with clients such as Ameritrade. No mapping is required between object, relational, and multidimensional views of data, resulting in huge savings in both development and processing time. Caché enables rapid Web application development, extraordinary transaction processing speed, massive scalability, and real-time queries against transactional data. Caché was ultimately chosen as a database because of its expandability, scalability and robustness.

System requirements
Accknowledge Systems will run on computers with low hardware specifications. Workstations only require Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and higher.
