WEB-BASED ACCOUNTING

 “As a fully fledged manufacturing concern we experienced major problems with stock control, and job costing in general, over the last ten years. Since the introduction of AccKnowledge into Alliance some months ago, we have gained the necessary control of both scenarios with full stock control over items generally regarded as consumables, resulting in more accurate costing of each job. This job costing ranges from the smallest to the total cost of the manufacture of an entire fire engine.

For the first time in the history of the company, stock can now efficiently be tracked from receipt into the master warehouse, through WIP, up to completion and final invoicing of the job… be it at our Boksburg based head office or at either of our two mechanical workshops in Johannesburg and Tshwane. The system assisted in better control of the buying of material and parts and dramatically reduced stock losses and material wastage in the process.

With regard to general bookkeeping and management of the business, Accknowledge is found by all users (fifteen), to be very user friendly. Gone are the days of one having to wait for the other to exit a specific module before being able to utilise the module. We have had as many as four staff members working in one module simultaneously without a decline in the operational speed of the system! As if this increase in productivity was not enough, we were able to set each workstation up with dual screens to further increase productivity by saving wasted time in switching between modules on a single screen. A full set of management reports is available at the press of a button or two, whenever it is needed. In the unlikely event of one experiencing a problem whilst using the programme, the solution (through the Accknowledge dealer) is the proverbial “phone-call-away”! More serious issues resulting from incorrect data input etc is attended to via the Internet, eliminating the need for a technician to visit the company and cutting back on downtime and general irritation.

AccKnowledge certainly seems to have been custom designed and developed for Alliance Emergency Vehicles and is highly recommended for use by all small and medium sized enterprises throughout the entire continent and for that matter, worldwide.

AccKnowledge, being Internet based, not only enables one to monitor one’s business from anywhere in the world, but closer to home, allows me to work from my home office. I can access the system directly by dialling into the office server via the use of an ADSL line. I am likewise able to monitor the day-to-day business of our Cape Town based associated company and make adjustments as and when needed. “
